How to Create Ramadan Tea Towels with Cookie Cutters
Let’s talk supplies first. You can always skip to the bottom for all the supplies & instructions. Products are linked, or visit our Amazon storefront.
- White tea towels 2 pk/tea towels 12 pk
- IronÂ
- Potatoes – russet
- Cardboard
- Ramadan themed cookie cutters
- Knife
- Acrylic paint
- Fabric painting medium/textile medium
- Paper plate/paint palette
- Foam paint brush
- Paint brush
- Paper
Place your towel over cardboard or another surface. Iron out the area you’ll be stamping on.
Once you’ve determined the pattern and colors. You’ll need to mix all of your colors with a few drops of fabric medium. This helps to soften the paint so it’s not so hard on your towel.
Dip your cookie cutters in the paint and do a test onto your white paper. If it looks good, go ahead and dip it back into the paint and place your first stamp onto the towel.
Repeat the process with your pattern until the towel is complete. We opted for a camel and star pattern along the bottom of the towel.
How to Create a Ramadan Tea Towels using Potato Stamps
Iron your towel in the place you’ll be stamping. And determine your pattern and colors used.
Once that is done you’re going to:
- Cut your potato in half
- Insert the cookie cutter into the potato half way, take out
- Trim off any access pieces so you have a crisp figure from your cookie cutter
And mix the paint with a few drops of the painting medium. Now dip your potato stamps into the paint and stamp it onto the white paper as a test. If that’s good, stamp it back into the paint and stamp onto the towel in the desired location.
Continue with your pattern until you’re finished.
If you notice you have gaps in the paint. You can go in with your paint brush and fill in the gaps.
Enjoy your Ramadan tea towels! They make fantastic Eid or iftar host gifts as well!
